L&T ball valves — construction, materials and ends
The ball valve range covers ASME Class 150 to 2500 in sizes 8 mm - 200 mm (1/4" - 8"), designed to ISO 17292 and API 6D. Three body constructions are offered and the choice is usually driven by maintenance access rather than pressure: a single-piece body is the most compact and the least likely to leak at a joint; a two-piece body splits for seat access; and a three-piece body lets the centre section be removed for servicing without disturbing the pipework either side, which is why it dominates the screwed and socket-weld sizes.
Bore is specified as either full bore, where the ball port matches the pipe bore and the pressure drop is close to that of a straight length of pipe, or reduced bore, which is smaller, lighter and less expensive for the same line size where a modest pressure drop is acceptable. Both appear across the range.
Materials of construction
Stainless components are specified by cast and forged grade rather than by the familiar 304/316 shorthand: CF8M is the cast equivalent of SS 316 and F316 its forged counterpart, while F304 is the forged 304 grade. The catalogue lists them exactly as below.

End connections
Socket-weld ends are made to ASME B16.11, screwed ends to ISO 7-1 for BSPT or ASME B1.20.1 for NPT, and flanged ends to ASME B16.5 in raised face, flat face or ring-type joint. Flanged face-to-face follows ASME B16.10.

Pressure testing is carried out to ISO 5208 and API 598. Where a fire-safe design is required, the valve is tested to ISO 10497 and API 607 — the standards that demonstrate a valve will still shut off after the soft seats have been burned away.
L&T Aquaseal butterfly valves
What separates Aquaseal from an ordinary resilient-seated butterfly valve is how the seat is fixed. Instead of dropping a moulded rubber liner into the body as a separate part, the elastomer is vulcanised directly onto the body casting. A loose liner can creep, roll or tear as the disc sweeps past it, and once it moves the valve starts to pass. A bonded seat has nowhere to go, so sealing stays consistent and the torque needed to turn the disc does not climb as the valve ages — which matters most on actuated valves, where rising torque eventually stalls the actuator.

The family spans four pressure ratings: Aquaseal 10 (PN 10, wafer, 50–600 mm), Aquaseal 16 (PN 16, wafer, lugged and flanged, 50–900 mm), Aquaseal Plus (Class 150, wafer, lugged and flanged) and Aquaseal 25 (PN 25, wafer, 50–200 mm). Valves in other materials are available on demand. CF8 is the cast 304 grade; CF8M is the cast 316 grade.
Both variants carry an ISO 5211 mounting platform for direct actuator and gear-unit fitting, so gear units and pneumatic or electric actuators bolt straight to the valve without an adaptor bracket.
Cast steel and forged steel gate, globe & check valves
This is the IBR side of the range, and it splits by size. Below 50 mm the valves are forged — a solid bar or billet worked into shape, which gives a dense body with no casting porosity and lets the higher classes be built in small bores. From 50 mm upward the bodies are cast steel, flanged, in Class 150 and Class 300.
Trim is what actually wears, and it is specified separately from the body. The Class 150, 300 and 800 valves use 13% chromium steel with hardfacing on the seating surfaces; the Class 1500 and Class 2500 globe valves step up to 5% chromium steel with hardfacing, matched to A105 or F22 bodies depending on the service temperature.
