About the range
DRP industrial valves are made by the DRP Group of Jalandhar, a valve manufacturer since 1976, and are supplied in India with the Veeson co-brand. The group runs DRP Metal Works (1976, bronze and stainless valves), Veeson Valves Pvt. Ltd. (1992, cast iron industrial valves) and DRP Malleables Pvt. Ltd. (1996, M.I.G.I. and C.S. pipe fittings) at DRP Lane, Bulandpur Road, Jalandhar.
The DRP range covers cast iron butterfly valves in PN-16, PN-20 and PN-25 with lever, gear, pneumatic or electric actuation, sluice and gate valves to IS:14846, non-return reflux valves to IS:5312, wafer swing and dual plate check valves, wheel valves, air valves and strainers. Body is cast iron / SG iron with a fixed (bonded) liner in Nitrile (80°C max) or EPDM (130°C max); disc is S.G. iron or investment-cast CF-8 (SS-304 equivalent); spindle AISI-410 stainless with AISI-304 pins and PTFE gland packing. Every valve is hydro-tested at 200 lbs body / 150 lbs seat, works test certificate on request.
Choosing within the range: the S.G. iron disc series (DBF, DBD2, DB25) is the workhorse for clear water, HVAC and fire duty; specify the CF-8 disc series (DBFS, DBS2) for raw water, high-TDS bore water, STP/ETP service or any line where disc corrosion is the failure mode. Move from PN-16 to PN-20 (DBD2/DBS2) or PN-25 (DB25) as shut-off pressure rises — pump headers, high-rise risers and hydrant mains. Lever operation is standard to 150 mm; specify gear operators (DBFG, DBFSG, DBD2G, DBS2G, DB25G) at 200 mm and above, and on any valve used for throttling.

The pneumatic series (Art. DBSP, ₹7,391–₹58,899) uses a rack-and-pinion actuator for fast on/off duty on compressed-air-rich plants — ETPs, batching plants, OEM skids; single and double acting options, solenoid and limit-switch accessories on request. The electrical series (Art. DBSE, ₹22,241–₹1,23,971) suits pump houses and remote water infrastructure where air is unavailable — specify supply voltage and duty cycle at enquiry. Both carry CF-8 stainless discs on PN-10 bodies, 40–300 mm; actuator sizing sheets and works test certificates are furnished with supply.

Bodies and wedges are cast iron IS:210 Gr.FG200 with stainless or forged-brass spindles and bolted bonnets. Non-rising spindle patterns (DSV with S.S. spindle, DSB with forged brass) save headroom in chambers and pits — brass spindles are preferred where dezincification-free operation in buried service matters. The rising spindle DSVR gives visual open/closed indication for pump houses and fire headers. The ductile iron resilient-seated gate valve DSVS carries a rubber-encapsulated wedge for drop-tight shut-off in drinking water distribution.
Gate vs sluice: the terms describe the same valve — municipal specifications say sluice valve, mechanical specifications say gate valve. All four patterns are stocked 50–300 mm ex-Delhi.
NRV / reflux valves
A non-return (reflux) valve permits flow in one direction only; the DRP NRV is a cast iron swing-type reflux valve to IS:5312, ISI marked, PN-16.

Art. DRV carries a rubber-faced door on a cast iron IS:210 body with bolted cover, flanged to IS:1538 — the standard protection for centrifugal pump delivery lines, borewell headers and rising mains, 50–300 mm (₹3,889–₹45,914). The rubber seat gives quiet re-seating and tolerance to suspended solids. Where water hammer or vertical installation governs, consider the spring-assisted dual plate check series instead; where headroom is tight, the wafer swing check saves seven-eighths of the weight.
Wafer swing check valves
DRP wafer type swing check valves are compact non-slam NRVs designed to API 594 and tested to API 598, fitting between standard flanges without pipe supports.

At roughly one-eighth the weight of a conventional swing check, the ductile iron wafer body carries a single plate on a stainless hinge pin with Nitrile/Neoprene/EPDM sealing, installable horizontally or vertically. The M.S. flap series (Art. DWM, ₹898–₹10,870, 40–300 mm) covers clear water and HVAC duty; specify the CF-8 stainless flap (Art. DWCV, 40–200 mm) for corrosive or high-TDS service. Silent closing all but eliminates water hammer and slamming, and the short face-to-face drops straight between existing gaskets during retrofits.
Dual plate check valves
A dual plate check valve is a spring-loaded, wafer-pattern NRV whose two half-discs close before reverse flow establishes — the non-slam choice for pump discharge.

The single acting valve (Art. DSAV, 15–65 mm) releases small volumes of pressurised air continuously at local high points. The double action / double orifice valve (Art. DDAV, 40–200 mm) additionally admits and expels large air volumes during filling and draining — the standard fitment on transmission mains. The kinetic air valve (Art. DKAV, 50–150 mm) is shaped to discharge air at high velocity without premature closure, specified on pumping mains subject to rapid filling. Bodies are cast iron IS:210 Gr.FG200 with SS-304 / IS:410 perforated screens, CAF gaskets and mild steel fasteners; body hydro-test 300 lbs, suitable to 150 lbs steam working pressure and 200°C. The Y-type Table-E flanged strainer (Art. DSTF, 50–300 mm, ₹2,229–₹40,228) is the general-purpose pattern for water, air and steam lines to BS:10 D/E/F and PN-16 drilling. The T-type flanged strainer (Art. DTS, 40–200 mm) offers a straight-through body where the Y-leg fouls adjacent pipework and allows in-line screen withdrawal. Screens are replaceable; finer meshes on request.

Veeson and DRP are two brands of the same manufacturer, the DRP Group of DRP Lane, Bulandpur Road, Jalandhar-144 0012, Punjab. DRP Metal Works began in 1976 with bronze and stainless steel valves, Veeson Valves Pvt. Ltd. followed in 1992 with cast iron industrial valves, and DRP Malleables Pvt. Standards & testing
DRP cast iron butterfly valves conform to IS:13095-1991 and are ISI marked, with a fixed liner, ductile iron or CF-8 stainless disc and AISI-410 stainless stem; they are tested at 200 lbs. hyd. body and 150 lbs. hyd. seat, for 80°C max with Nitrile and 130°C max with EPDM liners. Sluice valves are ISI marked to IS:14846 and non-return reflux valves to IS:5312.
Dual plate check valves use spring-loaded half discs with stainless hinge and stop pins and a Buna-N or EPDM seal. Wafer swing check valves are designed to API 594 and tested to API-598. Works test certificates are furnished with the order when required.

What is the difference between a gate valve and a sluice valve?
They are the same valve. Municipal and public-health specifications in India typically write “sluice valve” while mechanical and HVAC specifications write “gate valve” — both describe the full-bore, wedge-gate isolation valve made to IS:14846. DRP supplies non-rising S.S. spindle (DSV), non-rising forged brass spindle (DSB), rising spindle (DSVR) and ductile iron resilient-seated (DSVS) patterns, 50–300 mm, PN-16.
When should I specify gear operated instead of lever operated butterfly valves?
Specify gear operators at 200 mm and above — seating torque at those sizes exceeds comfortable lever effort — and on any valve used for balancing or throttling, where the self-locking gearbox holds the disc position. Lever operation is standard and economical up to 150 mm. For remote or automated lines, DRP also supplies pneumatic (DBSP) and electrically actuated (DBSE) butterfly valves 40–300 mm.
Do DRP valves come with test certificates?
Yes. Every DRP/Veeson valve is manufactured in an ISO 9001:2015 works with in-house chemical, physical, air and hydraulic testing, and a works test certificate is furnished with supply on request. Butterfly valves are ISI marked to IS:13095, sluice valves to IS:14846 and reflux valves to IS:5312; hydro test values for each family are listed in the standards table above.
S.G. iron disc or CF-8 (SS-304) disc — which butterfly valve should I choose?
Choose the S.G. iron disc series (DBF, DBD2, DB25) for clear water, HVAC and fire-fighting duty — it is the economical workhorse. Specify the CF-8 (SS-304 equivalent) disc series (DBFS, DBS2) for raw water, high-TDS borewell water, STP/ETP service or any line where disc corrosion is the likely failure mode. Both carry the same IS:13095 ISI-marked body; the price difference at most sizes is modest against the service life gained.
