DRP MS forged pipe fittings are drop-forged from solid steel billet, so the grain follows the shape of the fitting and the body carries pressure that a cast fitting of the same wall could not. Vijay Sales Corporation supplies the DRP range as an authorised dealer, in two working classes. The 1000 LBS threaded class has BSP threads and screws onto steel pipe for serviceable joints; the 3000 LBS socket weld class takes the pipe into a deep socket for a fillet-welded, permanent connection. The range covers elbow, tee, socket, union, reducing elbow, reducing tee, reducing socket, male/female elbow, reducing bush, plug, hex nipple, reducing hex nipple, cross and 45° elbow in the threaded class, and elbow, reducing elbow, tee, reducing tee, socket, reducing socket, union and cross in the socket weld class. DRP Forged Fitting Dimensions

Catalogue reference dimensions in millimetres, for the 1000 LBS threaded and 3000 LBS socket weld ranges.

Reading the charts

On the threaded fittings, A is the centre-to-face on elbows, tees and crosses (or the overall length on sockets, unions and nipples), and D is the body outside diameter; B, C, L and T follow the catalogue drawings — thread length, square or shoulder height and hex band width. On the socket weld fittings, the MIN and MAX columns are inspection limits on the socket bores and outside diameters, not working dimensions — the socket is bored a controlled amount larger than the pipe so it can be welded. Allow for thread make-up on threaded joints and for the weld gap on socket-weld joints when you set out a run. If a single dimension is critical, WhatsApp us and we will physically verify it against stock before you order.

Material, Threads, Classes & QA

How DRP forged fittings are made, threaded, rated and checked.

Material

Drop-forged from carbon steel billet. Forging gives a continuous grain structure that follows the body, with none of the porosity or shrinkage a cast fitting can carry — so the same wall holds far more pressure.

Threads

Threaded fittings are cut to IS:1239 (Part-II) / BS EN-10241 — BSP parallel female and BSPT taper male. NPT threading is available on request. Threads mate with standard steel pipe.

Classes

1000 LBS is the threaded working class; 3000 LBS is the socket weld class per ANSI B16.11. The class number is the manufacturer hydro-test pressure, which is why the heavier socket-weld body carries the higher figure.

Testing & QA

Bodies are CNC-machined, compression- and pressure-tested, and laser-marked for traceability, under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system. Every consignment ships with the manufacturer's test certificate.

What We Fix at the Counter

Three things worth getting right before you order.

Spec the class before the size

The most common gap we fix on an RFQ is "MS elbow, 1 inch" with no LBS class. A 1000 LBS threaded elbow and a 3000 LBS socket-weld elbow are different fittings at different prices — tell us the class first and the rest is quick.

A hydraulic nipple is not a hex nipple

The long-barrel hydraulic pattern seals differently from a plain hex nipple and is a separate line item. If a drawing calls for a hydraulic nipple, quote it by that name so you get the right part, not the nearest hex.

Reducing items are Equal O.D.

The reducing elbows, tees and sockets here are Equal O.D. items, priced by the listed nominal size. Confirm both ends on WhatsApp and we lock the exact piece — it saves a wrong-size return later.

ABOUT THE BRAND

About DRP

A Jalandhar forgings house with roots in the Indian valve industry since 1965.

The DRP brand belongs to DRP Malleables Pvt. Ltd. of Jalandhar, part of the wider DRP group founded by Pran Bhala. The story began in 1965, when he started out as a foreman under the name Meenu Metal; in 1976 he established DRP Metal Works to manufacture DRP-brand valves. Through the following decades the group broadened into stainless steel valves in 1987, brass ball valves, cast-iron industrial valves, and in 1996 the DRP-M range of galvanised pipe fittings. In 2012 the works moved to a purpose-built plant of around 270,000 square feet, and in 2013 the company began making high-pressure MS forged steel pipe fittings — the range on this page.

Every forged fitting starts as a CAD model, is drop-forged from steel bar under forging hammers and presses, then CNC-machined, compression- and pressure-tested, and laser-marked for traceability before final inspection and packing — the group works to a Total Quality Management discipline under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system. Vijay Sales Corporation supplies these fittings as an authorised DRP dealer and distributor, from ready stock in Delhi.

What are the dimensions of a 1 inch 1000 LBS forged elbow?

The DRP 1 inch (25mm) 1000 LBS threaded elbow measures A 44mm centre-to-face and D 43mm body, per the DRP catalogue. See the elbow dimension chart for every size from 1/8 inch to 3 inch.

What does 1000 LBS or 3000 LBS mean?

It is the fitting class, taken from the manufacturer's hydro-test pressure in pounds. 1000 LBS is the threaded working class; 3000 LBS is the heavier socket-weld class. The number rates the fitting, not the pipe, and is not a direct working-pressure figure for a given line — always design to the line's own rating.

Threaded or socket weld — which should I use?

Use 1000 LBS threaded where a joint may be opened again with hand tools — small-bore water, air and instrument lines with no welder on site. Use 3000 LBS socket weld where the joint is welded and permanent, for higher-pressure steam, hydraulic and process lines. Where one break-point is needed on a welded line, use a socket-weld union.

What material are DRP forged fittings made from?

Carbon steel, drop-forged from solid billet. Forging gives a continuous grain structure with none of the porosity of a casting, which is why a forged fitting holds much more pressure for the same wall thickness.

Are the MIN/MAX socket-weld tolerances guaranteed working sizes?

No. On the socket-weld charts the MIN and MAX figures are inspection limits on the socket bore and outside diameter, not working dimensions. The socket is bored a controlled amount larger than the pipe so it can be fillet-welded; allow for the weld gap when you set out a run.
