Because the standard fixes the weight, Jindal Star and Jindal Hissar pipe of the same size and class weigh the same: 15MM Medium is 1.21 kg/m, 50MM Medium is 5.03 kg/m, and 150MM Heavy is 21.30 kg/m, within a minus-10% tolerance.
These figures are the IS:1239 nominal weights, cross-checked against stock held at the Delhi warehouse of Vijay Sales Corporation, a certified dealer of both brands supplying pan-India.
The Weight Is Set by the Standard, Not the Maker
Every figure in a Jindal pipe weight chart comes from IS:1239, the Indian Standard for GI and MS tubes. The standard fixes the outside diameter and the wall thickness for each size and class, and weight follows directly from those two dimensions. That is why the nominal weight of, say, a 50MM Medium pipe is the same whether it is rolled by Jindal Pipes Limited as Jindal Star or by Jindal Industries Pvt. Ltd. as Jindal Hissar — the maker cannot change a figure the standard has set.
Two points matter when reading the chart. First, the weight shown is the plain-end nominal weight, and a tolerance of up to minus 10 percent is permitted, so an actual length can weigh slightly less than the table. Second, GI and MS carry the same nominal figure: the zinc coating on galvanised pipe is thin enough that it is not counted in the nominal weight, so one chart serves both the black and the galvanised product.

Nominal weight is fixed by IS:1239; the permitted minus-10% tolerance applies, and mill lengths vary. Treat the per-6m column as an estimating figure for load and freight, not as a billing weight — pipe is billed on measured running metres. 125MM has no Medium class and 150MM has no Light class in the standard.

How to Read Weight Into a Per-Metre or Per-Kg Basis
Pipe is sold and billed by the running metre, not by weight — but the two are tied together by the nominal weight in the chart, which is why a “per kg” figure and a “per metre” figure describe the same pipe. Knowing the weight lets you move between the two.
To turn a per-kg figure into a per-metre figure, multiply the per-kg rate by the nominal weight per metre. To go the other way, divide a per-metre figure by that same weight to read it back as a per-kg figure. The weight is the bridge; the arithmetic is one multiplication.

How do I calculate Jindal pipe weight per kg?
