Pipe rate history

Pick a brand, section, class and one or more sizes. Every series is drawn from the published lists for that exact size and class — no smoothing, no interpolation between dates.

Loading the index…

These are LIST prices as published — not net rates. Actual net rates are lower: discounts apply against requirement and are quoted per inquiry. The index tracks movement, which is identical for list and net. WhatsApp 9999889008 for today's net rates.

What the data shows

Three readings from the index

All three are computed from the dataset for the same series — Jindal Star, G.I. IS:1239, 1/2" (15 mm), Medium (B) class — the default view on the chart above. Figures are list rates in Rupees per metre, Ex-Delhi.

Last 12 months

+24.4%

From Rs. 180.00 on 07/07/2025 to Rs. 224.00 on 01/09/2026 — the two lists that bracket a twelve-month window ending on the latest published list.

Peak and trough

Rs. 241

The highest reading in 69 dated lists, on 22/04/2022. The lowest is Rs. 162.00 on 22/02/2021. The current level of Rs. 224.00 sits 7.1% below the peak.

Against the 2021 base

+31.0%

From Rs. 171.05 on the earliest list in the index (04/01/2021) to Rs. 224.00 on 01/09/2026 — a span of 5 years and 69 published revisions.

Methodology

How this index is built

Every rate in this index is read from a dated PDF price list published by Vijay Sales Corporation for the Jindal Star and Jindal Hissar pipe ranges. All of the source documents remain downloadable from the price list archives page, so any figure here can be checked against the document it came from.

The brand and the effective date for every row are read from inside each PDF — from the printed "PRICE LIST FOR …" and "W.E.F." lines — and never from a filename or a link label. That matters because link labels can be wrong, and two on the archives page are: one list labelled Star is in fact a Hissar list, and one labelled 2021 is in fact a 2022 document. Reading the date from the page itself makes the series immune to that.

Rates are per metre, Ex-Delhi, and GST is extra. Sections follow the standards the lists themselves use: IS:1239 Part-1 for 1/2" to 6", priced by class (Light A, Medium B, Heavy C), and IS:3589 for 8" and above, priced by wall thickness in millimetres. Both appear in galvanised and black finishes.

A list price is not a net price. Everything on this page is the published list rate. What is actually invoiced is that rate less the discount applicable to the requirement, which varies with quantity, size mix and delivery. Net rates are quoted against a bill of quantities, not off an index.

Two disclosures on data completeness.

8 early lists exist only as scans and are pending manual digitisation. They are held out of the index rather than transcribed by OCR, because an OCR error in a rate digit is exactly the failure this index cannot afford.

One suspected misprint in the 04.07.2022 Jindal Star list is preserved as printed in the dataset, flagged, and excluded from charts.

The dataset is published as a machine-readable file and is free to cite with attribution to Vijay Sales Corporation. Every row records the source PDF it was read from.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the GI pipe price trend in Delhi since 2021?

Across 155 published Jindal price lists tracked from January 2021 to September 2026, the 1/2" (15 mm) G.I. medium-class rate on the Jindal Star list moved from Rs. 171.05 per metre on 04/01/2021 to Rs. 224.00 per metre on 01/09/2026, a change of +31.0%. The path was not a straight line: the same series peaked at Rs. 241.00 on 22/04/2022 and the current level sits 7.1% below that peak. All figures are list rates in Rupees per metre, Ex-Delhi, GST extra.

Are these the actual selling prices?

No — these are the manufacturers' published LIST prices, reproduced exactly as they appear on the dated price lists. Actual net rates are lower: a discount is confirmed against the specific requirement, and it varies with quantity, size mix and delivery, so no single net figure would be true for every buyer. What the index is for is tracking movement — and movement is the same whether you read it on list or on net, because the discount applies to the list rate. For a net quote on a live requirement, WhatsApp 9999889008 or send the bill of quantities.

Why do steel pipe prices change so often?

Steel pipe is priced off hot-rolled coil, which is an internationally traded commodity, so mill price lists move with raw material cost, energy cost, freight and demand rather than on a fixed calendar. A pipe price list is therefore a snapshot with an effective date on it, not a fixed tariff. In the period covered by this index the same Jindal series has been revised as often as twice in a month and as rarely as once in a quarter.

How often do Jindal pipe rates revise?

Across the archive this index is built from, Vijay Sales Corporation published 155 dated price lists between 02/01/2021 and 02/09/2026 across the Jindal Star and Jindal Hissar series — an average of roughly two revisions a month across both series combined. Revisions are irregular: they follow mill announcements, not a schedule.

What was the GI pipe price in 2021?

On the earliest Jindal Star list in this index, dated 04/01/2021, the 1/2" (15 mm) G.I. medium-class rate was Rs. 171.05 per metre, Ex-Delhi, GST extra. The lowest reading for that series anywhere in the index is Rs. 162.00 on 22/02/2021. Select 2021 on the chart above to read any other size or class for that year.

Is the rate on this page the price I will pay?

No. Every rate in this index is a published LIST rate. The price actually invoiced is the list rate less the discount applicable to your requirement, and discount varies with quantity, size mix and delivery. Rates are also per metre, Ex-Delhi, with GST extra and freight extra. Send your bill of quantities and a net quotation is issued against it — the index tells you which way the market has moved, not what your order will cost.

Where do these rates come from?

Every figure is read from the dated PDF price lists Vijay Sales Corporation publishes for the Jindal Star and Jindal Hissar pipe ranges, all of which remain downloadable from the price list archives page. The brand and effective date for each row are read from inside the PDF itself — from the printed "PRICE LIST FOR …" and "W.E.F." lines — and never from a filename or a link label, so a mislabelled link on the archives page cannot corrupt the series.

What is the difference between the IS:1239 and IS:3589 rates?

IS:1239 Part-1 covers the smaller sizes, 1/2" to 6", and prices them by class — Light (A), Medium (B) and Heavy (C) — where the class sets the wall thickness for a given bore. IS:3589 covers 8" and above and prices by actual wall thickness in millimetres instead of by class letter, because the larger sizes are made to a specified wall rather than to a class. Both appear in this index, in galvanised and black finishes, and both are quoted per metre.

Can I cite this index?

Yes. The dataset is free to cite with attribution to Vijay Sales Corporation. It carries a Dataset declaration in the page's structured data, the underlying JSON is published as a file, and every row records the source PDF it was read from, so any figure can be traced back to the published price list it came from. If you need the data in another shape for a report or a tender, ask and it can be supplied.
